We can provide magicians, clowns, or costumed characters of any kind for your child's birthday party, or to keep the children occupied at an adult's birthday party so that the grown-ups are free to socialise! Our entertainers use a combination of magic, clowning, face painting, games and balloon modelling to ensure a really fun time.

Face painting

We are proud to provide some of Canberra's finest face painters for all occasions and events.

Our specialist face painters are highly skilled professionals who can complete 15 high-quality full faces an hour. We use non-allergenic, low-sensitivity, water-based professional face paints in up to 20 shades. Our creative face painters have lots of suggestions for faces, and are also able to do most requests.

Face painting is not only great for children, but also for older children and teenagers, with whom small motifs, flowers and designs are popular. It's also the ideal way to add the finishing touches at a fancy dress party.

Children’s Entertainers

Our entertainers are multi-skilled staff who are able to combine humour, magic, face painting, games and balloon modelling into fabulously fun parties, close-up entertainment and interactive shows. We have three broad categories of entertainers: clowns, costumed characters, and magicians. All of our entertainers are available for both small, private functions as well as for large corporate events.

Clowns

Our clowns are the most popular choice for birthday parties and events. With colourful costumes and loads of tricks and fun, our clowns are always a huge success. Our standard clown birthday parties include magic, games, and balloon modelling, with the option of face painting as well. Other activities and requirements can be added to suit your needs.

Costumed Characters

With our huge range of costumes and accessories, we can offer almost any costumed character to visit your party of event. Popular choices include superheroes, mermaids, fairies, pirates and more.

Magicians

We can provide specialist magicians to suit both children and adults, with close-up magic, interactive magic tricks and more.

Games Workers

We often provide games and activities for large groups of children. These are ideal for school groups, fetes, festivals and larger parties.

Parachute games, ball games, party games, craft activities and more can be expertly supervised and coordinated by our experienced staff. We regularly facilitate the following games:

• parachute games
• sack races and three-legged races
• statue and silent games
• musical games
• all favourite children's games

Just Clowning Around can also provide costumed or non-costumed storytellers, interactive shows, and children's discos or dance parties for any number of children.

Craft

We have also run craft activities for several high-profile events, including Floriade and Riverside Plaza School Holiday Program. We provide all of the materials for such activities and are fully self-contained. These activities are ideal for small or medium-sized groups of children.

Plaster Painting

Wanting a fun activity you can do with a group of children at your next party or school holidays?  Well this is the activity for you.  We provide the plaster packs that includes: one plaster per child, a set of acrylic paints, brushes and glitter.  Theme packs include:  horse, dinosaurs, ballerinas, butterflies, fish and assorted magnet designs.

Our Commitment

Our managers visit international trade shows to ensure that our staff have access to the latest costumes, accessories, equipment and training.  Our lead clown attends training at conventions in the United States and attends Clown Camp at La Crosse University in Wisconsin USA every three years.  This training is vital for the training of all Just Clowning Around staff, so your child is getting the very best and latest in clowning entertainment at their party.

Profile of some of our entertainment crew

Bumbles
Bumbles has a preschool diploma in Childcare, and is currently completing a Bachelor of Education in Preschool/Primary School.  Bumbles loves to face paint and was fifth from a field of over 150 international professionals at an International Clown Convention.  She has an obsession for face painting, and has taught face painting while traveling throughout the United States.  Bumbles has a passion for working with the little children and making children laugh.  She loves chocolate, her two puppies and never wants to grow up.

Stumbles
One of our Xmas favourites.  Stumbles hibernates through most of the year, which is a good thing as he is very silly and plays tricks on Bumbles all the time.  So if you see him being silly or playing a trick, please let Bumbles know. 

Juggles
Juggles started circus training in 1991 and has grown and developed as a performer since. When he moved to Canberra in 1993 he became a member of the Knack Gnats circus until 1994 when he moved on to the Warehouse Circus. There he performed in several large scale performances as a performer, trained kids in circus skills and worked with performers from Circus Oz, Kronik, Schmick As and the Flying Fruit Fly Circus. Today Juggles enjoys circus as a hobby as a side project to his day job as a graphic designer. Always keen to learn new skills he’s an accomplished juggler, unicyclist, acrobat, stilt-walker and static trapeze artist. Away from circus he’s a bit of a nerd with a passion for technology, computers and gadgets, loves animals and really likes pizza.

Mingles
Mingles has been clowning for five years.  She loves bubbles and making balloons animals.  Mingles also loves to dance and you’ll see her shaking her stuff at one of our dance parties.  Limbo and musical bobs is her specialty.  Mingles has lots of energy, a great bubbly personality and always makes the birthday child feel very special.

Tumbles
Tumbles been clowning and performing for over 12 years, including performing in Canberra Youth Theatre Circus. She loves clowning because it doesn't matter how big of an idiot you are the kids still love it. As a mum of two, Tumbles can relate to children extremely well, and combines all her skills to make your child’s party the best party every.  Tumbles loves animals especially dogs and lizards.

Fumbles
Fumbles has been clowning with Just Clowning Around for the past three years.  Fumbles loves to balloon model and ride his unicycle.  Fumbles is a favourite with many of our children in Canberra and they always invite him back, time after time.  In his spare time, Fumbles is a chef with one of Canberra’s leading restaurants.  What could be better than a clown who makes you laugh while he cooks you lunch. 

Jingles
You will find Jingles joining us for Xmas.  Jingles brings his unique sense of humour to the team and enjoys rumbling with balloon dinosaurs.  He is a master at balloon modelling and loves to entertain.  Dave has a Bachelor of Education in Primary Education and loves sport.
